WhatsApp finally all set to send documents over chat
Yet another feature from our Whatsapp whishlist has made its way to the world’s largest instant messaging app. Whatsapp update has added the document sharing feature, which many rivals of the messaging app already have, on Android smartphones. Previously it also announced its service free for life time
The document sharing feature of the App allows users to only share PDF files for now. This means that there is no support for .doc, .xls and other commonly used file formats; there is no official word on when the company will start supporting these.
WhatsApp is now allowing users to share documents with each other. This is however yet to be available to all users and quite like many other features, this is being added to the version of the Android app that can be downloded directly from website. The feature is visible in the most recent builds available via Google Play and the App Store – Android v2.12.453 and iOS v2.12.4.
How it works
To share files, users need to tap the attachment icon on the top right of the screen, hit the ‘Document’ option and select from the list of PDFs on your phone.
And to use the feature, both the sender and receiver must be on the same version of WhatsApp.
Let’s hope that WhatsApp will also unveil new update to the feature allowing to support other file formats as well!
